Anybody has any experience diving Apo Island or Siquijor? I've done my research but I was hoping to get some recommendations / 1st hand advice on where to stay, which dive resorts and what dive sites would be best to go to. I guess April is as good as any month to dive there. Thanks!

I'm from Dumaguete and Apo Island is a fantastic dive spot according to my friend, DM Pedro from the Atlantis resort. I've experienced snorkeling in the area but have yet to do my first dive. In my snorkeling, i've seen jackfish, sea turtles, sea snakes, clownfish, and a moray eel - all in one dive! I can recommend you to try out Atlantis, Bahura, or Antulang. It also depends on your budget for accommodations. I've been to the Siquijor beaches but have never got to do snorkeling or diving. Apo Island was voted #8 best diving spots in the world according to the 2007 issue of Islands Magazine. I'm looking forward to do my first dive soon and I hope I could get some encouragement from all you experienced divers out there. If you're planning to get to Dumaguete, drop me a line - 09189061024 I may be able to help you sort through options that you don't get taken advantaged by some locals.

First of all, welcome to Pinoy Scuba! My apologies for the delayed reply. Thanks for the info on Apo Island. This will come in useful in the future. You're one lucky dude because you live in the middle of some of the best dive sites in the country.
I was not able ot go to Apo Island but went to Siquijor instead. For more info about my dives in Siquijor, please see the Siquijor thread.
You have got to start diving na! All the best tourist spots in the Philippines are down there. You may PM Erwin, our Administrator in the forum for details on Open Water classes.
Regards, Gi
