finallygi!as requested hirs our subic trip report.sorry for d delay(naunahan mo pa ko magpost ng negros dive safari nyo wen in fact nauna ang subic namin...hahaha!)...its only now dat i was able to find tym to do this...(fb kse ng fb!)hehehe.
Anyway, las aug 15, me, hubby ace, master wow n her wifey ting, mama jen n papu rod together wid ryan n wife joan went to subic to spend d weekend. we were billeted @ subic international hotel. Of course early bird na nman kmi ni hubby n d silverios so we waited for d late comers...dey arrived lunchtym so dey ate first n rested...so in short...late na kmi nakaalis to go to boardwalk dive center...dey have excellent staff der who prepped up our gears...jayson d assigned dive master of boardwalk did d briefing. So i heard master wow saying "yes!di ako magbrie-brief sa dive na to!"..."what?" i said..."d ka magbrie-brief???...ting!d daw magbri-brief c wow!"...laughter all over...hahaha!
Our first dive was d uss new york wreck...we walked from d dive shop to d beach where d boat of boardwalk dive center was docked...as in we walked d boardwalk streets (as in kalsada) wearin our wetsuits...hahaha!in fact we even passed by a childrens playground...hehe!
...d boat was hi-tech...nyc motors...d trip goin to d site was only 10 mins bcuz our boat was fast...d sea was calm...no currents...but we hav to go down using a line coz of d vis...d vis was so bad, it was lyk swimming in a very dirty aquarium. Upon reaching d wreck, vis was terrible dat we hav to stick wid d ppl wid flashlights...not much to see...dat we missed anilao's colorful corals n fishes. Many debris wer suspended in d murky water dat added up to d bad vis. We cant penetrate d wreck bcuz of d vis so we jus went around it...We wer only able to see d canyon wid our dms wonderful HIDI flashlyt which cost around 18k (expensive!)...
n had sum photops der but it turned out syang posing kse dark ung reception sa cam...haaay!sayang! Den we saw d marker of GMGI frog man Glen Acker who died wyl penetrating d same wreck...it was eerie considering d darkness dat surrounded us...but oh well...as we continued our dive, i was so happy to see a very big grouper swimmin alone...haaay!at least i saw a big fish on ds dive!...wen we were ascending at least we saw a school of small fishes...den a lil bit of corals...bad vis talaga! So we decided not to make a 2nd dive for d day but agreed on diving very early d next day.
Next day we wer up early hopin to dive in better vis. Our dive site dat day was d el capitan. jayson d dm lent sum flashlyts to d oders n wen went down, he lent me d HIDI uw flashlyt...cool!but i secured it very well on my wrist coz i myt lose it n end up payin 18k for a flashlyt...no way man!hehe!so imagine ganun na lang ang kapit ko ko sa flashly na un.heheh! we went down n saw d entrance of d wreck...it was dark...as in...my heart was thumping pero i said bhala na...i went insyd wid d dm leading den as i focus d flashlyt at d surroundings, my eyes settled n at least saw lyt from sum holes of d sunken ship. Ace followed as well as jen...d ship was huge n its length was 130m...vis was bad but tnx to d expensive flashlyt, we were able to see d ships interior...was compelled again to practice good buoyancy coz otherwys, i myt fall in sum hatches...der wer fishes below but not much color...wen we reached d broiler room, as previously briefed, dey said d air der on top was poisonous, i held on to my regulator out of fear dat i myt inhale sum air der n swam so fast to reach d end...hehehe...it was really a different experience...though we didnt see dat much it was d experience of penetrating a dark ship dat gave me an adrenaline rush...at least we made it to d oder end safe n sound.
ders not much to expect in subic in terms of colorful marine life...but d experience of diving a wreck in bad vis was sumthin different. kudos to d staff of boardwalk dive center who treated us well esp to jayson n amay "b"...i forgot his name...hehehe...bsta kamukha cya ni amay "b", yun na yun...lol! After our dive i learned to appreciate our playground in batangas even more...till' our next dive!
Cost of dive: 1200/per dive
